The Hay Creek Valley Historical Association invites you to attend our special celebration to honor the heroes of the World War II generation. Organized in 2010, the event’s mission is to educate the public about the World War II era and encourage respect, honor, and appreciation for our veterans and past generations. The event atmosphere is like a family picnic of years past – plenty of food, games, families, and most of all the older generations passing down local and family history.

Military and Home Front Exhibits and Demonstrations

World War II re-enactors will fill the 26 acre Joanna Furnace site with authentic military equipment, tools, and uniforms of the period. Visitors are encouraged to talk to the re-enactors and experience what life was like on the battlefield. In addition, visitors will be able to watch various weapons demonstrations throughout the weekend.

From the Home front, families will be able to walk through a reconstructed 1940’s home complete with an icebox and a Philco radio. Interpreters will model WWII era clothing showing not only the fashions of the day but also how the war changed life on the home front. Fashion shows will take place on the main stage at the event.
